(at least) 3 things I am grateful for

March 3, 2008 · No Comments

After 2 separate trips to the Alberta Children’s ER with 2 different children, I have add to my list of LISTS a daily gratitude list.  I have finally realized the profound impact of such a list…especially during those “down” times.

Here are the 3 things that I am grateful for:

**  There is universal health care for my children.

**  My children’s laughter and the way they say “I love you mommy”

**  We have a roof over our head, clothes on our back and family to share our moments of fears, joys and happiness.

Do you have a daily gratitude list?  If not, start one!!

3 Ways to Protect Yourself as a Female Realtor

February 5, 2008 · 2 Comments

Being a realtor as well, the news of the murder of a Saanich, BC Real Estate Agent has really made me think twice about my safety when showing homes and doing open houses.  The circumstances of the events leading up to the murder gave me goosebumps because I had the exact same situation happen to me here in Calgary, Alberta just the past summer.  However, in the end, I declined the showing (going with my instinct)!!!  So, us realtors, particularly female realtors need to listen to our instincts and take extra precautions.

**  Always hold a “qualifying” meeting with new buyers.  Meet at a public place you are familiar with and ask qualifying questions to ensure this buyer is truly a serious buyer.

**  Always tell someone where you are and bring a fully charged cell phone with you!!!

**  When holding an open house, never follow the people upstairs or to the basement, always know the exits from the home and stay near them when people are in the house so in case of emergency you can get out FAST!!!

Share with me other ways to stay safe in your career.

3 Ways to tell someone is lying

January 25, 2008 · No Comments

** There are no direct eye contact - - they usually shift their gaze to the floor or somewhere else but not looking at you when talking to you.

** Their reason or explanation is short and makes no sense at all — the answer given seemed like something that has popped into their head; they’re choppy; they’re fillers — just so they can GIVE you an answer

** They add too much to their reasoning or explanation.

Here are some more ways to tell that someone is lying. How do YOU tell someone is not telling the truth?
