Wow! Narrowing it down to three is a real challenge! There are so many books that have had significant impacts on the way I see the world, the way I value other people, and just generally how I live my life. I’ve read two of the three that you selected (To Kill a Mocking Bird and Tree Grows in Brooklyn) and they are definately on my list of favourites.
I think the three I chose today would not necessarily be the ones that I would have chosen 5 years ago, and they may not be the ones that will stand out in future years but, for right now I’d have to say:
1) Anne Frank - Diary of a Young Girl
2) Living Simply with Children - Marie Sherlock
3) Affluenza - DeGraaf/Wann/Naylor
If I had the option of adding three more, I’d include:
4) The Good Earth - Pearl S. Buck
5) Garbage Land - Elizabeth Royte
6) The Jade Peony - Wayson Choy
It was fun going back over my book lists to make this selection!

You are absolutely right Late Bloomer about choosing just 3 books! It was very very difficult for me too to choose ONLY 3 books as I have many favourite authors and books. I have read some of the ones your list too and would agree that they should also go in the list: The Good Earth, The Jade Peony, and Anne Frank’s Diary of a Young Girl (I remember I read this when I was very young and its impact on the way I thought about my own little world had change 180 degrees).
There are so many inspiring books out there …. keep on reading!

1) To Kill a Mockingbird by Harper Lee (have to agree with you on that one)
2) The Kite Runner- Khaled Hosseini
3) Pride and Prejudice- Jane Austen

Allison, those are 3 great picks. I’ve read all of them and the one out of your three I would say is one of my all time favourite is “Pride and Prejudice”.
Keep up the good reads!
