** War torn countries and USA will realize that war is not the solution to obtain peace in the world. Since when is it okay to kill people to “save” people?
** We are able to find a better and more successful way to help women and children in abusive situations.
** People understand that the homeless situation is not just “other peoples’ problem” but a problem for everyone. No one is born “wanting” to live on the streets, eat garbage, fear for their lives everyday….this is not a choice they want. The homeless people all have stories as to why they ended up on the streets…try to understand it from their point of view…we truly are all just a “paycheck” away from living on the streets ourselves. Here is a website with some of their stories.
Share with me your thoughts ….

My kids love to help out when it comes to baking. I wish I was one of those mommies that can just “whip” up a batch of delicious cookie recipe or cake recipe, etc but it usually takes me over an hour to find something I like and I think will work with my children’s age (my oldes is 4 years, my second is 3 years and my youngest is 1.5 years). Sometimes the task is quite challenging and I end up making something really simple like jello (which is always a no fail recipe in our household) or pudding. During the holiday season is always the busiest for my kids helping in the baking department. I always look forward to all those lovely “cookie cutter creatures” that we end up with. A cookie cutter of an angel may utlimately turn into an angel with extra heads or arms or feet just because my kids love to add their own “creative touches” to their cutouts.
I would love to hear and share recipes that you do with your kids!

Through the hustle and bustle of the holiday season and rolling into 2008, I haven’t even had the chance to make my goals list. How important you say is a list to make? VERY important. I had started doing this about 6 years ago and I have found it to be life saving!!!! If I hadn’t made a yearly list I would not have spent the energy nor time to achieve them. I make it my goal to achieve at least ONE item on the list for that year. I know it is hard for someone who is not a listaholic to understand the importance of this…but for me, it keeps me focused and moves me forward. I am forever learning and wanting to learn new things. Life is short so take some risks, learn some new skills and have fun! Another list that I have (my main list) is what I term ” 100 things to do/achieve before I die”). So far, I have made it my promise to commit to achieving one item off this list as well. It has been fun, and challenging at the same time. But best of all, I have found that I could do anything I put my mind to.
Some important points when making your lists:
** Keep your list “doable” - don’t make a list that leaves your frustrated and hopeless.
** Start off slow - start with the more simpler items. For example, they could be getting to bed by 10pm every night, remembering to smile everyday :o)
** Make it your goal to try to achieve at least one item on your list every year!!!! Don’t fall off the wagon. Remember, they is for YOU! You deserve it.
** Remember, have fun doing it!
Here are my 3 top goals I want to achieve this year:
** Stay away from Toxic people. I have had my share of trying to help toxic people to find out that they suck all my energy and I am the one left to deal with the mess afterwards. So, toxic people stay away.
** Spend at least one hour of quality time with my kids. This means no TV, no computer, no talking on the phone, etc.
** Learn to love myself more. I have realized the importance of learning to love yourself first because if you can not do that then you cannot learn to love others. My kids are the most important people in my life and I do not want them growing up not knowing what a loving mother is like. For them, I would do anything.
I hope this gets you a bit interested in making lists. Try it, it is fun and for me, also therapeutic! I would love to share with others what their lists in life are…Do you make lifelong lists? New Year’s List? Shopping lists? Wish lists? I make all sorts of lists and would love to hear the variety of lists that others are doing!!!
Make this year a great one!
